What is Epiduo Gel for?

Please note: Do not use Epiduo alongside other Benzoyl-Peroxide containing products.

Please note: Do not buy Epiduo online to use alongside other treatments for your condition that contain a retinoid.

Please note: Only use Epiduo alongside other treatments for your symptoms if your doctor or pharmacist says that it is OK to do. Using multiple topical treatments may cause irritation and soreness to your skin.

Epiduo Gel is prescribed for the treatment of acne, specifically very effective in easing pimples. The active ingredient Adapalene 0.1% is often excellent at treating the condition which has been caused by comedones (clogged hair follicles in your skin). Epiduo Gel comes as a practical, easy-to-use 45g pump dispenser.

Epiduo Gel is antibiotic-free and therefore may be suitable to be used by those who can’t use treatments that contain antibiotics, or perhaps do not wish to use such products. To purchase Epiduo online simply complete an online consultation with Medical Specialists®, using our safe, secure and quick service.

How does Epiduo Gel work?

There are two active ingredients in Epiduo Gel – Adapalene 0.1% and Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% - and they work in different ways to effectively reduce symptoms.

Adapalene belongs to a class of medicines known as retinoids (a type of vitamin A that removes dead skin cells) and works to normalise the development of the skin cells, whilst stopping pores from becoming blocked and promotes the renewal of skin cells. Adapalene also eases inflammation and swelling.

Benzoyl Peroxide reduces the number of bacteria that cause the problem, killing them off and helping the skin to dry, soften and eventually peel off to renew skin cells and give you new, fresh and clear skin. This is why Benzoyl Peroxide is usually referred to as a peeling agent.

The combination of the two active ingredients combine together to effectively reduce breakouts, in addition to preventing or reducing future occurrences.

How to use Epiduo Gel

After you buy Epiduo online, always use Epiduo exactly as your doctor has told you, or as outlined in the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL). You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Method of administration

When you buy Epiduo Gel online, apply a thin film of gel evenly over affected areas once a day at bedtime, avoiding the eyes, lips and nostrils. The skin should be clean and dry before application. You should wash your hands thoroughly after you have used Epiduo.

Duration of treatment

Your doctor will tell you how long you will need to use Epiduo.

If you feel that the effect of Epiduo is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If you experience persistent irritation when applying Epiduo, contact your doctor.

You may be asked to apply a moisturizer, to use the gel less often or to stop for a short time, or to stop using the gel altogether.

What are the possible side effects of Epiduo Gel?

Side effects are rare, and most people don’t get any. Possible side effects may vary from one person to the next, as with any medication. You should always read the manufacturer’s Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before using or any other medication.

This will give you important instructions on how and when to use the medication, as well as any possible side effects of the drug.
