What is Utovlan for?

Utovlan is a tablet that a woman can take to delay a period, particularly suitable for a special event such as a holiday. These tablets contain a synthetic progestogen, a female hormone involved in menstruation.

One pack of Utovlan 5mg (30 tablets) can be taken to delay your period for up to 7 days, whilst two packs (60 tablets) can be used to delay your period for up to 17 days.

How does Utovlan work?

Utovlan 5mg tablets contain a synthetic version of the female sex hormone progesterone; a hormone produced mainly in the ovaries. This hormone helps your body time and regulate your periods. As the level of progesterone reduces each month within your body, this is the signal to begin another period. However, if you buy Utovlan for period delay, the progesterone in the tablets will trick your body into waiting a little longer before commencing with the following period.

Can I get pregnant on Utovlan?

Although you can buy Utovlan without a prescription from Medical Specialists® to delay your period, it will not work as a contraceptive. Therefore, it is possible you can become pregnant if you have unprotected sex whilst taking Utovlan.

How to take Utovlan

You can buy Utovlan 5mg tablets to be taken three times a day for period delay (15mg daily in total), beginning three days prior to when your expected period is due to start and continuing for no more than 17 days after this (20 days in total).

Your period will not occur whilst taking Utovlan, but should then should start within three days of stopping the medication and your regular cycle should resume. If you do not get your period as expected after the three days, the manufacturer’s Information Leaflet advises you to check with your doctor in case you are pregnant.

Normally, Utovlan is taken at the same time each day (for example, morning, midday and evening). If you forget to take a tablet on one day, simply continue taking the regular dose on the following day, or when the next dose is due. Do not take two doses together. As with any medication, when you buy Utovlan online for period delay, always read the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL). The PIL will give you more information about the medicine.
