Tranexamic Acid belongs to a group of medicines called anti-fibrinolytic drugs. These are used to stop or reduce unwanted bleeding. According to the NHS, there are key facts to take into account in respect of Tranexamic Acid:
- You'll usually take Tranexamic Acid 3 times a day for a few days at a time.
- It can take up to 24 hours for the medicine to work fully.
- You can take the medication with or without food.
- Most people do not have any side effects when taking Tranexamic Acid.
How does Tranexamic Acid work?
When you bleed your body forms clots to stop the bleeding. In some people these break down causing too much bleeding. Tranexamic Acid workings by stopping these clots dissolving and so reduces unwanted bleeding. Tranexamic Acid is a very effective option in the treatment for heavy periods.

How long does Tranexamic Acid last for?
