What is Salamol for?
Salamol CFC-Free Inhaler is known as a ‘reliever’ inhaler (blue inhaler) due to the fact it provides quick relief from breathing problems associated with the lung condition. Salamol is therefore only used when required, unlike the brown ‘preventer’ inhaler. This is an inhaler used on a daily basis to build up long-term protection. Only buy inhalers online such as Salamol for the rapid relief of symptoms when they occur.
Please note that according to the NHS, you should tell your GP or asthma nurse if you have to use your reliever inhaler 3 or more times a week as they may suggest the additional use of a brown preventer inhaler as well as your blue reliever inhaler. Or, if you already use a preventer, your medication could be changed.
You can also buy Salamol online to prevent symptoms caused by exercise or where your symptoms are caused by a substance that you are allergic to (e.g. house dust, pollen, dogs, cats, cigarette smoke, etc.) or to treat breathing difficulties which are caused by other conditions such as COPD, bronchitis or emphysema
Ask your doctor if you have any questions about why Salamol has been prescribed for you.
Your doctor may have prescribed another kind of inhaler medicine to prevent you from having an attack. This kind is known as a 'preventer’. Your doctor may have told you to use this inhaler in addition to your Salamol.
Do not share your medicine with anyone else, even if they have the same symptoms as you do. It can be harmful for people to use this medication if it has not been prescribed for them. You should only buy Salbutamol online if you have already been prescribed this medication previously, and it is for your own use.
How does Salamol work?
Salbutamol is a bronchodilator medicine and works by acting on receptors in the lungs known as ‘beta 2 receptors’. The medicine helps the muscles in the airways to relax, allowing for the widening of the airways and making it easier for you to breathe.
Salamol provides fast relief of symptoms (within 5 minutes), and relief for around 4 to 6 hours.
How to use Salamol
When you buy Salamol online, the dosage is individually adjusted according to your doctor’s instructions, based on previous therapy, and you should fully read the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) supplied in the product’s package. Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
For the best results with this medicine you should use it when required to relieve symptoms and other chest conditions with similar symptoms, such as wheezing, breathlessness and tightness in your chest.
Salamol CFC-Free is a metered dose inhaler that gives you the medicine as a fine mist or spray. You are required to coordinate pressing down of the canister whilst breathing in the spray.
To get the correct amount of medication to your lungs, you need to learn how to use your inhaler. Although clear instructions are given in the PIL, you can also ask your doctor or nurse to demonstrate to you the proper use of the inhaler.
Your dosage depends on what your doctor has prescribed, but usually, you take one puff as a starting dose. This may be increased to two puffs if necessary.
To prevent symptoms caused by exercise or allergens (e.g. house dust, pollen etc.), you usually take two puffs 10 to 15 minutes before you exercise or before exposure to known allergens.
Do not take more than 8 puffs in 24 hours. Wait 4 hours between doses.
What are the possible side effects of Salamol?
Side effects are rare, and most people don’t get any. Possible side effects may vary from one person to the next with any medication. You should always read the manufacturer’s Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before using this or any other medication.
This will give you important instructions on how and when to use the medication, as well as any possible side effects of the drug.
