What is Rozex Cream or Gel for?

Metronidazole belongs to the antiprotozoal and antibacterial category of medicines, and comes in a topical form in Rozex Cream or Gel.
The treatment is applied twice a day directly to the affected area(s) of skin, which kills off bacteria and reduces inflammation. How does Rozex Cream or Gel work?
The antibiotic Metronidazole within Rozex works to kill bacteria cells causing the symptoms by damaging their DNA, meaning the bacteria cannot multiply. This helps to clear up the skin infection and eases symptoms.
The medication is particularly effective at clearing up the spots and cysts caused by acne rosacea, whilst also reducing the redness.
How to use Rozex Cream or Gel
Unless specifically instructed otherwise by your own doctor, you should use Rozex twice daily for rosacea. Using a pea-sized amount of the gel, apply once in the morning and again in the evening.
Apply a thin layer to the affected area(s) and rub the gel in gently. Do not apply the cream or gel to your eyes, mouth or the inside of your nostrils, as this may lead to irritation to those areas. If this does happen, wash it off with warm water as soon as you are able.
You should also wash your hands thoroughly after every application of Rozex Cream or Gel.
Duration of treatment should be discussed with your own doctor, but often it can take up to 3 months to see the full benefit of Rozex.
