What is Rectogesic for?
Rectogesic Rectal Ointment is a topical prescription medication that contains the active ingredient Glyceryl Trinitrate, which is a type of medicine called an organic nitrate. You can buy Rectogesic to be used as a pain relief associated with anal fissures and effectively helping with the healing of the tear.
How does Rectogesic work?
The ointment will help to relieve the symptom of pain caused by chronic anal fissures, which is a tear in the skin lining the anal canal. Topical application of Rectogesic to the anal canal reduces the anal pressure and increases the blood flow, thereby reducing the pain you feel. If you are currently suffering with these symptoms, you may be suitable to buy Rectogesic Ointment online from Medical Specialists® through our discrete online consultation service.
How to use Rectogesic
When you buy Rectogesic online, always read the supplied Patient Information Leaflet (PIL), which states:
The usual dose is approximately 375mg of ointment (approximately 1.5mg Glyceryl Trinitrate) applied to the anal canal every 12 hours.
A finger covering, such as cling film or a finger cot, may be placed on the finger to be used to apply the ointment. Finger cots can be obtained from your local pharmacy or surgical supplies retailer or cling film from your local store. The covered finger is placed alongside the 2.5cm dosing line, which is provided on the outside carton, and a strip of ointment the length of the line is expressed onto the end of finger by gently squeezing the tube. Gently insert the ointment into the anal canal using the finger. The finger with the ointment must be inserted to the first finger joint (approximately 1cm) into the anus.
Apply the ointment every 12 hours as directed and do not exceed the dose. Wash hands after use and dispose of the finger cot or plastic wrap (not down the toilet).
Treatment may be continued until the pain goes away, or for up to a maximum 8 weeks. If your anal pain does not get better after using Rectogesic you should talk to your doctor to check that something else is not causing the pain.
What are the possible side effects of Rectogesic?
Side effects are rare, and most people don’t get any. Possible side effects may vary from one person to the next, as with any medication. You should always read the manufacturer’s Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before using this or any other medication.
This will give you important instructions on how and when to use the medication, as well as any possible side effects of the drug.
