What is Priligy for?
Please note: If you have never used Priligy before, we can only prescribe 30mg tablets as a maximum dose.
Priligy (Dapoxetine) is a PE medication that has been specifically designed to treat premature ejaculation in men. It aims to increase the time it takes you to ejaculate and may help to improve your control over when you ejaculate. This can increase a man’s self-esteem, confidence and reduce worries about when you will ejaculate. Priligy may also improve both yours and your partner’s satisfaction with sexual intercourse.
Also, Priligy enables couples to enjoy more foreplay and prolong the fun and excitement before the act itself.
How does Priligy work?
Priligy is an oral tablet that acts quickly within 60 minutes and is only taken when you need it. The effects of Priligy are also short lived lasting for approximately 1-3 hours, which considerably lowers the risk of any possible side effects.
Priligy belongs to a group of medications called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). These medicines work by inhibiting the re-absorption of serotonin in your neural cells. When you're about to ejaculate, a reflex message is passed down from your brain to your nervous system. It's delivered by serotonin but sometimes serotonin can be re-absorbed too quickly.
This causes disruptions in the way the reflex message is passed from cell to cell, and can lead to conditions such as premature ejaculation. By inhibiting the re-absorption of serotonin, messages are communicated better and you are able to take greater control over your ejaculation.

If you are lightheaded and dizzy during this process please also note this on your consultation.

Can I take Priligy with Viagra?
No, you cannot take Priligy with Viagra or any other erectile dysfunction (ED) medication.
This is due to the fact taking the two together can increase your risk of experiencing extremely low blood pressure (also known as hypotension). If you suffer from both ED and premature ejaculation (PE), it may be worth trying your ED medication initially and if you still experience problems with PE, to discuss your options with your own GP.
Can Priligy be taken by men of all ages?
Priligy is licensed only for the treatment of PE in men aged between 18 and 64 who have had PE for at least 6 months. Generally speaking, this means those who ejaculate within less than 2 minutes after penetration.
What are the alternatives to Priligy?
Priligy isn't suitable for everybody. Therefore, we have other treatments for PE such as Stud 100 Spray or EMLA Cream, both of which work to reduce sensitivity in the nerve endings, delaying ejaculation.
How long does Priligy last for?
Priligy's effectiveness is best in the first 1 to 3 hours after taking it. However, It has been noted that it can occasionally still work for up to 12 hours.
Men who take Priligy should benefit from a doubling or even tripling of the time their erection lasts for with sexual activity before the point of ejaculation.
Why is Priligy expensive?
Priligy was released in 2013 by the drug company Menarini. It is still under patent, meaning no other pharmaceutical company can manufacture a generic version of Dapoxetine (the active ingredient). If/when the patent comes to an end, other companies can produce cheaper generic equivalents containing Dapoxetine.
