How to take Mysimba

The dose will be gradually adapted as follows:

• Week 1: ONE tablet once a day in the morning.
• Week 2: TWO tablets every day, one in the morning and one in the evening.
• Week 3: THREE tablets every day, two in the morning and one in the evening.
• Week 4 and onward: FOUR tablets every day, two in the morning and two in the evening.

The maximum recommended daily dose of Mysimba is two tablets taken twice a day.

After 16 weeks and each year after your treatment initiation, speak to your doctor so he/she can evaluate whether you should continue to take Mysimba.

How much weight can I lose with Mysimba?

Patients taking Mysimba ideally should be able to lose at least 5% of their weight at the beginning of the treatment, following 16 weeks of being on Mysimba treatment. However, some people may even be able to lose up to 10% or more of their starting weight. This works out as dropping from a weight of 200 pounds at the start of treatment, to 190 or even 180 pounds, or less.

Results may vary from patient to patient, and success will often depend on how well you adhere to your exercise and diet regime alongside taking Mysimba.

Can you stop taking Mysimba?

It is perfectly safe to stop taking Mysimba at any time. If you have not lost at least 5% of your starting weight after 16 weeks of initial treatment, you may need to discuss this with your own doctor as they could advise stopping taking the medication. In addition, if you are experiencing any side effects on Mysimba, you should find these will go away if you are no longer taking the medication. Prior to starting treatment, if you are concerned about any possible side effects, it is always best to discuss these concerns with your own doctor.
