What is Efracea for?
Please note: You will need to supply your doctor's details in your consultation to enable us to supply this antibiotic medication. This is so we can inform your doctor of your request for private treatment to adhere to good antimicrobial stewardship, and to minimise the risk of antibiotic resistance from overuse.
Efracea is a medicine containing the active ingredient Doxycycline, and is effective at reducing redness and spots associated with the common and chronic inflammatory disorder of the skin, known as rosacea.
Efracea is formulated to specifically treat the condition in adults, targeting symptoms such as lumps, spots and pimples.
How does Efracea work?
Efracea contains the Tetracycline known as Doxycycline. This is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which treats a wide range of infections caused by bacteria, such as Chlamydia.
It stops the bacteria from producing proteins, which prevents the bacteria from growing and multiplying.
The anti-inflammatory effect of Doxycycline also works to counteract the embarrassing and very uncomfortable symptoms that patients with rosacea often suffer with.
Efracea’s relatively low 40mg modified-release dose of Doxycycline means there’s no risk of it having secondary antibiotic effects on the body.
Can I take Efracea with other treatments?
As Efracea capsules are an oral antibiotic treatment, you can take them whilst using other topically-based non-antibiotic medicines for the condition, such as:
How to take Efracea
When you buy Efracea online, always take the medicine exactly as your doctor has told you, or as outlined in the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL).
The recommended dose is one 40mg capsule of Efracea each day in the morning, on an empty stomach, and preferably at least 1 hour prior to, or 2 hours after the meal. Swallow the capsule whole and do not chew it.
Moreover, take Efracea with a full glass of water whilst sitting or standing to avoid any irritation to the throat.
A course of Efracea is usually around 16 weeks, but this depends on the instructions by your own doctor. If no improvement of your symptoms have been seen after 6 weeks, speak to your own doctor as they may suggest an alternative treatment.
What are the possible side effects of Efracea?
Side effects are rare, and most people don’t get any. Possible side effects may vary from one person to the next, as with any medication. You should always read the manufacturer’s Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before taking this or any other medication.
This will give you important instructions on how and when to take the medication, as well as any possible side effects of the drug.
