What is Dermovate for?

Dermovate is classed as a ‘very potent’ steroid treatment for skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Dermovate is available to order online today from Medical Specialists® in 30g and 100g tubes, available as a cream or ointment according to your requirements or preference.

Choosing Dermovate Cream or Ointment for Eczema/Psoriasis

Dermovate Cream is usually used on moist, weeping areas of skin. Dermovate Ointment on the other hand, is generally suited for dry, scaly areas of skin due to it being thicker and greasier than the cream.

How does Dermovate work?

Dermovate contains the corticosteroid Clobetasol Propionate (0.5% w/w). This is classed as a very potent steroid.

Steroids in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis work by suppressing your immune system’s response to irritants/triggers. These can be anything from pollen, to animal hair and stress.

By reducing this response and stopping the release of inflammatory substances, Dermovate will thereby reduce inflammation. This is the cause of uncomfortable symptoms such as redness, swelling, itching and burning sensations.

How to use Dermovate

When you buy Dermovate Ointment or Cream online, use the medicine as your doctor has directed, and as outlined in the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL). Always check with your doctor if you are unsure.

Dermovate Cream or Ointment is applied carefully and thinly once or twice per day. This can be reduced as your skin begins to get better, or stopped when fully better.

Speak to your doctor first before applying to a large surface area of your body.

Please note: If your skin problems worsen or do not improve in 2 to 4 weeks, the PIL says you should talk to your doctor.

What are the possible side effects of Dermovate?

Side effects are rare, and most people don’t get any. Possible side effects may vary from one person to the next, as with any medication. You should always read the manufacturer’s Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before using or any other medication.

This will give you important instructions on how and when to use the medication, as well as any possible side effects of the drug.
