Cialis

Prices from as little as 94p a tablet

(Including Private Prescription)

Cialis is one of the most popular and widely prescribed erectile dysfunction (ED) medications, particularly famous for its potential for much longer-lasting effects, hence its nickname of ‘The Weekend Pill’. The medication can help men achieve firmer erections for up to an incredible 36 hours, longer than any other ED drug currently available. There is also a lower-strength Daily tablet available too. You should only buy Cialis online from genuine UK registered online pharmacies such as Medical Specialists®. If you have not been prescribed this medication before, the manufacturer recommends a starting dose of 10mg (this does not apply to Cialis Daily).

Due to GPhC requirements, you cannot add the medication to your basket here. The drop downs below just show you prices.

You now have to click ‘Start my Consultation’, complete the consultation questions, and after this you can add the medication to your basket.

As low as £7.90

Prices are for reference only. Decisions about treatment are for both the prescriber and the patient to jointly consider during the consultation. However, the final decision will always be the prescriber's.

What is Cialis for?

It is taken to treat erectile dysfunction in men. The medication’s prolonged effectiveness (resulting in more spontaneous sex) and its wider variety (with the option for men to take a lower daily dose of tablet), has led to the medication becoming prescribed to millions of men worldwide since its introduction to the market back in 2003. Although Generic Tadalafil has since become available, some men still prefer to take the more expensive branded medication.

You may prefer the cheaper generic version if you have achieved positive results with the brand but do not want to pay for the branded version of the drug (as both should theoretically work in the exact same way).

Generic versions of the medication – like all generic medicines – have been manufactured to have the same ‘bioequivalent’ of its branded counterpart, meaning it should theoretically be just as effective, but for a fraction of the cost.

An advantage of the Daily version of the medication is that it enables more spontaneity and you are ‘ready to go’ so to speak, as opposed to planning when to take a tablet.

Spotting Counterfeit Versions Online

Like other erectile dysfunction medications, Cialis is one of the most counterfeited drugs there is being sold on the internet.

Be careful when looking online to buy Cialis as there are many fake websites that claim to be registered pharmacies, but are in fact not. Genuine online pharmacies such as Medical Specialists® Pharmacy will clearly display their accreditations/credentials such as the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and National Pharmacy Association (NPA) logo. A lot of other websites may be based abroad and could offer cheap medication that is actually counterfeit drugs that simply won’t work to treat your ED, and even likely to contain many number of toxic ingredients that could endanger your life.

How does Cialis work?

Similar to other ED medications, it is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, which means it blocks the PSE5 enzyme from restricting blood vessels near the penis, thereby improving blood flow into and out during erections. It is important to remember that for the medication to work, sexual stimulation and arousal is required, otherwise the medication will likely be ineffective.

Also, just like other popular ED treatments, the medication impacts positively on a chemical in your body called nitric oxide, which encourages muscles to relax. These relaxed muscles let blood to flow more freely and help give a firmer erection when you become aroused.

How to take Cialis

There are two different types of the medication for ED, and they should therefore be taken differently. You should take a 10mg or 20mg tablet at least 30 minutes before sexual activity, which may still be effective up to 36 hours later. Drinking alcohol may affect your ability to get an erection, and may temporarily lower your blood pressure.

If you have taken or are planning to take this medication, avoid excessive drinking, since this may increase the risk of dizziness when standing up. You should NOT take more than one tablet a day. 10mg and 20mg is intended for use prior to planned sexual activity and is not recommended for continuous daily use.

The lower strength 2.5mg and 5mg Daily tablets are intended to be taken once daily.  As with any treatment, it is imperative that you always read the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before taking the medication.

Cialis v Tadalafil: Are they the same?

Cialis was one of the very first oral treatments approved for erectile dysfunction, being used by men since 2003 with great results. The’ manufacturer Eli Lilly had the patent on the product from 1997. The medication was originally developed as a treatment for heart disease, but clinical trials show excellent results as a potential treatment for erectile dysfunction.

Then in 2017, Eli Lilly’s patent on Cialis came to an end, which meant other manufacturers were allowed to begin creating their own ‘generic’ versions. Eli Lilly still owns the brand name of Cialis, but both type of medicines should theoretically work in exactly the same way.

What are the possible side effects of Cialis?

Side effects are rare, and most people don’t get any. Possible side effects may vary from one person to the next, as with any medication. You should always read the manufacturer’s Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before taking this or any other medication.

This will give you important instructions on how and when to take the medication, as well as any possible side effects of the drug.
