What is Amoxicillin for?

Amoxicillin 500mg is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that kills a wide variety of bacteria that cause a wide variety of commonly-occurring infections. Amoxicillin 500mg capsules contain Amoxicillin as the active ingredient which belongs to a class of antibiotics called ‘Penicillins’.

Amoxicillin 500mg is the first-line drug of choice for dental infections. It is given to people who have abscesses, infections around their wisdom teeth or infections that develop after dental surgery.

Although Amoxicillin can treat a number of infections, you can only buy Amoxicillin online from us for emergency dental problems such as dental abscess and gum disease where the gums become swollen, sore or infected.

How does Amoxicillin work?

Amoxicillin kills off the bacteria and eventually clears the associated infection. It is important to remember that Amoxicillin and other antibiotics are not known to be effective against viral infections, such as colds and flu, and are not to be misused in this way. Do not buy Amoxicillin for cold or flu as it will not work for this purpose.

How to take Amoxicillin

When you buy Amoxicillin for dental infections, always read the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL).

However, the typical adult dose for dental infections/abscesses is:

ONE 500mg capsule, taken 3 times a day, for 7 days.

What are the possible side effects of Amoxicillin?

Please note:  Amoxicillin 500mg can make birth control pills less effective. Therefore, you should consider this issue before you place a consultation with us as you may need to discuss this with your doctor.

Please note:  People taking blood-thinning drugs (anticoagulants), such as Warfarin may be more likely to bleed while taking Amoxicillin. Therefore, patients already taking Warfarin MUST inform their doctor or anticoagulation clinic so they can be monitored.

Side effects are rare, and most people don’t get any. Possible side effects may vary from one person to the next, as with any medication. You should always read the manufacturer’s Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before taking this or any other medication.
