Cancer can be prevented by losing weight
Medical Specialists News - Being over-weight or obese can cause many serious problems such as heart disease, high blood sugar and now it has been revealed by experts that at least 19000 cases of people diagnosed with caner can be prevented if they had a healthy weight.
Experts at the World Cancer Research Fund believe that cancers of the breast, bowel, kidney, pancreas, oesophagus and womb lining are among those linked to obesity and if everyone had a body mass index under 25; it would make a big difference to the incidence of cancer. According to the WCRF recommendations, people should try to lose weight without becoming underweight. Experts also believe that overall, about a third of the most common cancers could be prevented if people ate healthily, were physically active and maintained a healthy weight.
Many people still do not know about the link between obesity and cancer. According to a recent survey, almost 40% people still did not know that excess body fat was a cause of cancer.
The experts at WCRF further warn that there is evidence stronger than ever before that being overweight puts people at increased risk of cancer and maintaining a healthy weight is the most important thing people can do to prevent cancer.
